The Master’s degree programme in International Financial Management (IFM) focuses on the different aspects of financial management in an international business environment. You will develop the skills needed to become a financial manager in an international firm or organization.
Important courses in the programme are International Corporate Finance, International Business Strategy and Research Methods in Finance. You will finish the programme by writing a Master’s thesis.
The IFM programme can be taken as a stand-alone programme, but is also offered as a Double Degree programme for a limited number of students. In this Double Degree programme, the University of Groningen cooperates with Uppsala University (Sweden). In eighteen months you will finish two Master’s degrees at two universities.

One-third of the 60 ECTS programme is focused on the core courses of IFM: International Business Strategy, Corporate Finance, Risk Management and Managemenent Accounting. The research preparation and thesis work comprise of 25 ECTS and there’s the room for 15 ECTS of electives that match your preferences.

To be eligible for admission to this Master, you need to hold an academic Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a research university in one of the following – or closely related – fields: Business Economics, Business Administration, Economics and Business Economics, International Business, Technology Management.
To assess whether your educational/academic background meets the specific programme requirements, we will consider the level and curriculum of your previous studies, and the grades that you have obtained.
