The root cause of failed implementations often lies in the inability to effectively integrate the ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ sides of change management.
Are you currently in the process of executing your strategy, but finding it difficult to gain traction? Or are you going to execute your strategy in the near future but want to make sure everything goes smoothly? In both cases, this program is exactly what you need.
On the one hand, you’ll gain practical knowledge of implementation management; on the other hand, you’ll learn—through a team-based training—how to tackle your own challenge(s) and convert it into a success. Your own case study will be centralized in this course, which will enable you to immediately apply the insights into concrete practice and materialize results.
Covered topics
- How can I clearly communicate the ‘how and why’ of the change across all levels of the organization?
- How do I make sure the implementation plan is embraced by (key) stakeholders?
- How do I realize internal support among employees for the implementation?
- How do I foster a sense of commitment and ownership?
- How do I ensure the right knowledge level among employees for a successful transition?
- How do I structure, manage and monitor the implementation process?
- What role does business analytics and data-driven decision-making play in the change process?
- How do I maintain control over performance during the change and implementation phases?

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the postgraduate program in Strategy Implementation Management, you and your team members will have gained practical knowledge, skills and insights and are able to convert everything into effective implementation practices. Participants will understand their individual role within the broader context, grasp the “how and why” of change management, and know how to realize a tangible impact—both individually and as a team. You have developed new skills that accelerate the change process and acquired the tools to successfully initiate transformation.
In addition to these new capabilities, you will also have gained a deeper understanding of your own (business) case. You will possess advanced knowledge of Strategy Mapping and the Balanced Scorecard, enabling you to describe, measure, and monitor the implementation process. For the implementation manager, the second part of the course (team training) provides a powerful opportunity to build additional stakeholder support related to the implementation plan.

The postgraduate Incompany program ‘Strategy Implementation Management’ is designed for professionals and involved actors in the practical execution of strategic initiatives.
This executive-level course requires a certain level of academic and professional proficiency. Participants typically have a background in business administration, a minimum of four years of relevant work experience, and a higher professional education level (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Program overview
Day 1: Knowing – Implementation Planning (Session 1 & 2)
On the first day, you will learn how to clearly communicate your strategic or implementation plan to all relevant stakeholders. You will explore what is required to maintain control over the collective execution of the strategy. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is used as a guiding framework. You will learn how to design a BSC and apply it as a tool for management and control. Key topics include performance management, KPI development, strategy mapping, analytics and dashboarding.
Day 2: Willing – Change Management (Session 3 & 4)
This day focuses on realizing internal support for the strategy. You will learn how to foster commitment and ownership among stakeholders and ensure that employees, teams and departments align effectively with the implementation plan. The Balanced Scorecard is used as a critical supporting tool. Key concepts covered: motivation, knowledge sharing, change management, stakeholder engagement and communication.
Day 3: Capable – Training and Development (Session 5 & 6)
Day three is about bringing together all elements of effective implementation. In addition to knowledge (Day 1) and motivation (Day 2), successful implementation also depends on capabilities (Day 3). Training and development are therefore essential. During the second session of the day, you will be guided by an instructor to clearly and practically articulate your implementation strategy, using tools such as the Business Scorecard and Strategy Mapping.
Day 4: Measuring the Strategy (Session 7 & 8)
On this day, you will learn how to link measurable indicators to your implementation strategy—because “what gets measured gets done.” Based on your completed strategy map and Balanced Scorecard clusters, you will define relevant performance indicators for each critical success factor. Additionally, you will explore methods to visualize your strategy using dashboards and how to apply them effectively.
Day 5: Managing the strategy (Session 9 & 10)
The last day of the program focuses on testing and managing the feasibility of your strategy. Together with your team, you will simulate the execution and assess whether the strategy can be adequately managed and monitored. You will also evaluate whether appropriate weights have been assigned to your KPIs and whether the implementation plan has been clearly communicated. To maximize success, managers must ensure that all goals meet SMART criteria.
